Trump said on Monday evening that the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump’s resort home in Palm Beach, Florida. In his lengthy statement Trump said that by a large group of FBI agents his residence was “currently under siege, raided, and occupied.” He said that the raid was “unannounced,” by adding “They even broke into my safe!” After months of questions about whether Attorney General Merrick Garland was planning to pursue investigations into the former president, the search represents a serious escalation of federal law enforcement focus on Trump. There is probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed and due to this there may be evidence related to that crime in the location they are targeting. The federal investigators must show a judge to obtain a search warrant. To comment both the FBI and the Department of Justice declined.
