Amid heavy Russian shelling Power blackouts hit Ukraine

In the aftermath of Russia’s devastating strikes on energy infrastructure on Saturday in Kyiv and seven other regions of the country Ukraine’s state electricity operator announced blackouts. With missiles and drones the move comes as Russian forces continue to pound Ukrainian cities and villages, inflicting damage on power plants, water supplies and other civilian targets that is nearing its nine-month mark in a grinding war. Ukraine cities amid Kremlin-staged vote Russian forces shell

About ‘nuclear terrorism’ Ukraine warns after strike near plant

  In southern Ukraine on Monday a Russian missile blasted a crater close to a nuclear power plant, hitting its three reactors but not damaging nearby industrial equipment. As an act of “nuclear terrorism” Ukrainian authorities denounced the move.  The missile struck at the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant near the city of Yuzhnoukrainsk in Mykolaiv province within 300 meters (328 yards) of the reactors, leaving a hole 4 meters (13 feet) wide and 2 meters (6 1/2 feet) deep, according to Ukrainian nuclear operator Energoatom. It said, no employees were injured and the reactors were operating. Ukraine might produce a radiation disaster but the proximity of the strike renewed fears that Russia’s nearly 7-month-long war. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians forced to go Russia, US says

As new Russian attacks feared Americans urged to leave Ukraine immediately

  The US government is urging Americans in Ukraine to leave the country immediately, warning that Russia will step up efforts to launch attacks on civilian infrastructure and government facilities in the coming days.  To depart Ukraine now the US Embassy urges US citizens, if safe to do so, by using privately available ground transportation options” this has been said by a security alert on the embassy’s website. Throughout Ukraine the security situation is highly volatile and conditions can deteriorate without warning.  Moreover, the renewed US warning comes as Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine nears the six month mark and follows similar warnings from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other officials. For Ukraine, US announces new military aid

The U.S. for the first time on Friday said that it will give Ukraine ScanEagle surveillance drones, mine-resistant vehicles, anti-armor rounds and howitzer weapons to help Ukrainian forces regain territory and mount a counteroffensive against Russian invaders.   Apart from this, a senior defence official told reporters that a new $775 million aid package includes 40 mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles known as MRAPs with mine-clearing rollers, 15 Scan Eagles, and 2,000 anti-armor rounds that can help Ukraine troops to move forward in the south and east, where Russian forces have placed mines.  Moreover, the official said that as the war drags the U.S. is looking to help arm and shape the Ukrainian force of the future.
