Salman Rushdie attacker says “surprised” author survived

  Salman Rushdie told the New York Post on a lecture stage the man charged with stabbing said that he was “surprised” to learn the accomplished author had survived the attack. Hadi Matar, 24, told the tabloid that when I heard he survived, I was surprised, I guess, which said they held a video interview with the jailed suspect. He attacked their beliefs, the belief systems and he’s someone who attacked Islam.”  Matar said that with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard he was not in contact. US faces new hurdles but Iran deal tantalisingly close

Last week’s attack on Salman Rushdie and the indictment of an Iranian national for plotting to murder former national security adviser John Bolton have given the Biden administration new headaches. Along with Iran it negotiated a return to the 2015 nuclear deal.  However, a resolution may be tantalisingly close. Iran’s latest response to an EU proposal both as Europe and the U.S. which was described as the West’s final offer.
